Samsung Research America's Leader Honored with Industry-Leading Award

Cape Town, South Africa - December 9, 2024 - Charlie Zhang, Senior Vice President at Samsung Research America (SRA) and Head of the 6G Research Team at Samsung Research, has been recognized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world's largest technical professional organization, with a prestigious Career Award.

The Industrial Innovation Award, presented for the first time in five years, acknowledges Zhang's groundbreaking contributions to the development and standardization of Massive MIMO systems, a crucial technology for network coverage and capacity. A mobile communications expert, Zhang was also recognized for his leadership roles within the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), particularly at the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP).
