Samsung Launches Health Records Feature with India's Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission
Gurugram, December 2023 - South Korean tech giant Samsung has officially introduced a groundbreaking Health Records feature on its Samsung Health app, aligning itself with the Indian government’s ambitious Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). This innovation empowers users to securely manage their medical information digitally, reducing dependence on physical paperwork and enhancing overall healthcare management.
As part of this integration, users can now create and access their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) directly from the Samsung Health app. Equipped with a unique ABHA ID, users can seamlessly view and manage their medical history, including prescriptions, lab results, and hospital visits.
The initiative aims to streamline healthcare services by enabling users to store and share their records with healthcare providers across India. Registration for an ABHA account can be completed using Aadhaar or mobile numbers, guaranteeing access to a secure, ABDM-certified health locker for effortless record retrieval.
To further simplify outpatient services, the new feature allows users to scan a QR code through the app, generating a virtual queue token at ABDM-compliant hospitals and clinics. This move significantly reduces wait times, enhancing the overall healthcare experience.
The Health Records feature was developed in partnership with Eka Care, an ABDM-certified integrator. Deepak Tuli, co-founder of Eka Care, expressed optimism about the collaboration, highlighting its potential to boost digital health tool adoption and strengthen India’s connected healthcare ecosystem.
In addition to health records, the Samsung Health app offers a comprehensive suite of features, including medication reminders, sleep tracking, mindfulness programs, and irregular heartbeat notifications. To ensure user data security, Samsung employs its Knox Security Platform.
Indian users can access the Health Records feature by updating the Samsung Health app through the Galaxy Store or Google Play Store. This latest innovation is set to revolutionize India’s healthcare landscape, emphasizing digital wellness and improved patient care.
