Salim Khan Reveals Why He Never Wrote a Film for Superstar Son Salman Khan on His 89th Birthday

Veteran Hindi film writer Salim Khan has penned some blockbuster films in the 70s, including Zanjeer, Sholay, and Mr India. However, he never wrote a film featuring his superstar son Salman Khan.

Salim Khan, who turns 89 today, is celebrated for his contribution to Indian cinema through iconic pairings like Salim-Javed, which produced hits like Zanjeer and Sholay. Despite advising his sons Arbaaz and Sohail Khan on their film projects, he never took the writing gig for Salman.

The reason behind this omission was revealed by Salim Khan in an interview with Indu Mirani in 2014. He stated that when approaching other actors or collaborations, writers tend to overestimate their own creative value and doubt their ability to work alongside a potential future star (in this case, his son).

Salim further explained the risk of writing scripts for his sons, noting that on one hand, if it were to be successful, all credit would go to Salman; but, as the father, he couldn't handle not being mentioned.

With 89 candles lit today, fans wish Salim a wonderful birthday, acknowledging a remarkable career.
