Saif Ali Khan Stabbed, Suspect Arrested in Mumbai Amidst Shocking Burglary
Mumbai: A stunning turn of events unfolded in India's film capital yesterday when Bollywood superstar Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times at his residence. The assault left the 54-year-old actor with severe injuries to his spine, neck, and hands, but fortunately, doctors have assured him to be out of danger and discharged from hospital.
According to sources close to the investigation, the suspect behind the alleged attack is Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, a man with suspected Bangladeshi citizenship. Shehzad has been working with a housekeeping agency in Mumbai for several months under an alias, Vijay Das.
According to detectives, Islamic made the fatal mistake into entering India illegally and attempted to strike Khan as part of a burglary at his home. Fortunately, no others were injured during the incident.
Police have detained two suspects: key suspect Ismail Mohammed Khan is currently being held in custody while a second individual has been arrested in Chhattisgarh on Saturday.
"We have been working diligently with our officers and are determined to bring Sherrad to justice for this heinous and senseless act," Mumbai Police Commissioner told newsmen yesterday.
