SA Cricket Team Sets Sights on ICC World Cups in 2026 and 2027

South African cricketer Quinton de Kock expressed optimism about the team's prospects in the upcoming international tournaments, with the next big opportunity potentially coming at the home ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in 2027.

De Kock believes that the momentum gained by South Africa from their recent WTC (World Test Championship) victory can be carried over to white-ball formats as well. Speaking about their plans for the future, he noted, "I think it'll be massive. I mean, that tournament, we're definitely setting our sights on doing special things in that tournament."

The 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup will see South Africa co-hosting alongside Zimbabwe and Namibia, an opportunity that de Kock is eager to seize. He added, "There is still a way to go until then. Shukri (Conrad) obviously comes in now as the white-ball coach, so we'll see what plans that he has, who his personnel will be."

Before the main event, South Africa's focus shifts to the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, where they are looking to build on their finishing position of runner-up in the previous tournament. Under new captain Aiden Markram, the team aims to go one step further and lift the trophy.

De Kock will be supporting his teammates, led by Markram, with the team set to begin training ahead of their upcoming engagements. He also expressed his desire to be part of the 2027 ICC World Cup, stating, "But that 2027, a lot of us, we want to be there. We need to be fit to be there first."

With several high-profile tournaments looming in the future, the South African cricket team is looking forward to making a positive impact on the world stage once again.
