Russian forces launched a devastating drone and missile attack on the city of Sumy in northern Ukraine on Sunday, leaving at least eight people dead and dozens wounded, according to Ukrainian officials.
The attack, described as the largest in recent months, targeted a nine-story building located just 40 kilometers from the border with Russia. The building was one of several in the area that were hit by drones and missiles, sending shockwaves through the community.
Among those killed were two children, confirmed by Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko. More than 400 people, including those trapped inside the damaged building, are feared to be among the many affected by the attack.
