Russia Launches Largest Drone and Missile Attack on Ukraine in Months, Kills Eight
MOSCOW, Nov 18 - A massive drone and missile attack by Russian forces killed eight people and wounded dozens in the city of Sumy in northern Ukraine on Sunday, officials said.
The deadliest strike hit a nine-story building, leaving at least eight victims dead, including two children. Ukrainian authorities reported that over 400 people were evacuated from the damaged building after being told to seek shelter as part of an ongoing air raid alert.
Details of the attack are still emerging, but it is described by officials as the largest in recent months, with multiple Russian drones detected in the area around Sumy, which is located approximately 40 kilometers (24 miles) from the border with Russia.
Rescuers were conducting a thorough search operation to locate any people who may be trapped or hiding in the damaged building. The latest attack has heightened tensions between Russia and Ukraine, which have been locked in conflict since 2014.
The situation in Ukraine remains fluid, with ongoing reports of air raids and artillery exchanges in various parts of the country. International monitoring teams and human rights groups are closely following developments in the region to ensure that humanitarian concerns are being adequately addressed.
