Rohit Sharma to Lead India in Pink Ball Test Against Australia in Adelaide
New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajeev Shukla confirmed that India captain Rohit Sharma will lead the team in the upcoming pink ball Test, set to take place at the Adelaide Oval from December 6 to 10. Team India are currently leading 1-0 in the five-match series.
The victory over Australia in Perth, which saw India defeat Aussies by a massive 295 runs despite their own batting woes, has been hailed as crucial in boosting team morale. Shukla praised both the bowlers and batters for their performances, saying "The victory in Perth is of great importance. Our bowlers and batsmen played very well... Rohit Sharma will be playing the second test as the Captain..."
India captain Rohit, who had been away on a break, returned to action with a series of practice sessions in the nets and was spotted with the team when they secured their win in the Perth Test. Rohit, who had led India's stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah to victory at the Oval earlier this year but sat out for the pink ball encounter due to technical issues, is now set to face Australia once more.
In the first match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, Team India succumbed to a dismal batting display, scoring an embarrassing 150 runs on a day when Nitish Kumar Reddy (41 off 59 balls with six fours and a six) and Rishabh Pant (37 off 78 balls with three fours and a six) offered the only sparks of resistance. Although Australia responded with a much stronger attacking effort to chase down the Indian score, Rohit's men have taken the early lead in the five-match series.
Meanwhile, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla has confirmed that Team India will resume their tour with another crucial Test match at Adelaide Oval from December 6-10. This pink ball game against Australia promises to be an intense battle, and fans are eagerly awaiting the showdown between these two world-class teams.
