Renewable Energy Museum Opens in Kolkata's Eco Park
In a significant initiative to promote sustainable living, the Government of West Bengal has opened the Solar Dome museum at the gate number 6 of Eco Park in Kolkata. The newly inaugurated museum is touted as India's renewable energy museum and features an impressive herbal garden.
The dome-shaped structure, measuring 27m high with a diameter of 45m, was officially opened on November 1st, marking a significant milestone in the state's efforts to harness clean energy. Developed by the Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (Hidco) at an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore, the museum boasts a unique feature - the internal lighting system and surrounding streetlights will be powered by the 2,086 solar panels installed on its roof.
Spread over three acres, the Solar Dome museum will educate visitors about the importance of renewable energy and sustainable living. Minister of State for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Firhad Hakim, officially inaugurated the museum, emphasizing the significance of adopting clean energy sources to ensure a sustainable future.
