Reliance-Disney Merges Sports Businesses, Appoints Key Team Members
New Delhi: In a significant move, the newly merged Reliance-Disney entity, JioStar, has appointed Sanjog Gupta as its Head of Sports, leading the sports business division.
Gupta will be assisted by a 7-member team, including experts to oversee various aspects of sports, including audience engagement, production services, global licensing, and revenue management. The key appointments include:
- Siddharth Sharma, responsible for audience engagement, viewership, and monetization initiatives for sports.
- Prashant Khanna, in charge of sports production services for all consumer functions and production technology.
- Mallika Petkar, handling business, consumer acquisition, and distribution strategy for sports.
The team also includes experts to manage global licensing and syndication revenues, as well as the portfolio of sports brands. The appointments aim to drive growth and reach across various screens.
Revenue Team Members: New executives under Gupta have been appointed including Anupam Govindan, Arup Bansal, and Sunil Pasricha. Govindan will oversee cricket revenue from platforms. Bansal is responsible for PRS and brand solutions, including revenue strategy for sports LCS and SMB. Pasricha heads sports revenue operations across TV and digital.
Corporate Communications Head: Namita Jadhav has been appointed as the corporate communication head of the sports organisation.
The merged entity aims to harness the strengths of both Reliance and Disney's respective sports businesses to create a world-class sports platform for Indian audiences, both domestically and internationally.
