Red Ball Best Captain Is Virat Kohli And White Ball Is MS Dhoni: Former India Spinner Picks His Favourite
Mumbai, November 12, 2024:
In a conversation on Sony Sport's Tamil Cricket Podcast – Cricket Petta, former India spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan has named cricketers as the best captains in their respective formats. This response seems to have reignited debate among cricket fans and sparked curiosity about who should be considered the best captain.
When asked to name his favourite Test captain, Sivaramakrishnan named Virat Kohli as his top choice. He praised Kohli's attacking mindset, comparing him to legendary batsman Sir Vivian Richards, known for intimidating bowlers with his fiery eyes. This attitude contributed to Kohli leading India in 68 Tests and guiding them to a staggering 40 wins, making him the most successful captain of the format.
On the other hand, Sivaramakrishnan has identified MS Dhoni as his favourite white-ball captain. He lauded Dhoni for his exceptional ODI performance, guiding India to an impressive record 110 victories and winning the World Cup title in 2011. His calm demeanor stood out during matches.
The veteran spinner also shared his opinions on past captains, praising Sunil Gavaskar as one of the best he played under, with his strategic approach being highly analytical, while calling forth Kapil Dev as an instinctive captain known for making gut instincts that sometimes landed India on the right track.
This conversation might not satisfy every cricket fan's opinion, but Sivaramakrishnan has left a message from their vast knowledge and experience about leadership in sports.
