Rajasthan Govt Announces Plans for 'Hi-Tech City' Near Jaipur
Jaipur: In a bid to promote technological advancements and create employment opportunities in the state, the Rajasthan government has announced plans to develop a "hi-tech city" near Jaipur on the lines of other successful initiatives like Gujarat's GIFT City and Hyderabad's HITEC City.
Recently, the Boston Consulting Group, a multinational consulting firm, gave a presentation on the concept of hi-tech cities following which the state government has started scouting for suitable land outside Jaipur to establish this new venture.
"We are going to construct a hi-tech city on the outskirts of Jaipur. We are trying to ascertain the amount of land required for core areas of the city and for areas where peripheral development would take place," said Vaibhav Galriya, secretary of urban development and housing department.
The idea of developing a hi-tech city in Rajasthan was first announced in the 2024-25 state budget by finance minister Diya Kumar. Following this, the government roped in Boston Consulting Group to understand the basic concept of a hi-tech city.
"A hi-tech city means a base for various technology industries like information technology, artificial intelligence, cyber security, etc. The core area of the proposed city would have all features and facilities relevant to these types of industries. Buffer zones will be for residential projects and other amenities," Galriya explained.
The government officials are conducting surveys in places such as Phagi, Chaksu, Agra Road, and Delhi Road to identify potential land for this new initiative.
"We may allot govt land, or pool private land," Galriya said. The official added that the goal is to make the township self-sufficient by utilizing its own resources.
With this move, the Rajasthan government aims to promote technological growth in the state and create a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.
