Rajasthan Declares 'The Sabarmati Report' Tax-Free Amid Praise from PM Modi

Jaipur, Rajasthan - The Rajasthan government on Wednesday announced that the film "The Sabarmati Report", based on the Godhra incident, will be tax-free in the state. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma made the announcement on social media platform X, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's praise for the film as the basis for the decision.

Sharma stated that the government has taken a "meaningful decision" to make the film tax-free, saying it depicts the "horrific period of history" and refutes the "misleading and false narratives" spread at the time. He also highlighted the film's value in educating the public about the past and its importance in guiding the future.

Prime Minister Modi had earlier shared a user's post on X, praising the film for shedding light on the truth. In his post, PM Modi wrote that "false beliefs can only last for a short time, but the facts will eventually come to light."

Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri also recently lauded the film, calling it "a must-see" for those who value truth, identity, and justice.

Rajasthan has become the fourth BJP-ruled state to declare "The Sabarmati Report" tax-free, following Haryana, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh. The announcement is seen as a gesture of appreciation from the state government towards the film's portrayal of history.
