Rajasthan Bypolls: Over 19 Lakh Votes Cast in Seven Assembly Seats Amidst Tight Security
Jaipur, Rajasthan - Voting for seven Assembly seats in the ongoing bypolls in Dausa, Ramgarh, Deoli Uniara, Chorasi, Jhunjhunu, Salumber, and Khinvsar constituencies began from 7 A.M. on Wednesday and will continue till 6 P.M.
Over 19 lakh voters are expected to cast their votes in these elections today, with the state's Chief Electoral Officer Naveen Mahajan assuring a free, fair, safe, fear-free, and temptation-free voting experience for all voters.
The Election Commission has also made arrangements for live webcasting inside 1,170 polling stations out of the total 1,915 centres in these constituencies, considering the sensitivity of the election. Additionally, cameras are being installed outside polling booths to keep an eye on the queues of voters and the law and order situation.
Mahajan emphasized the need for timely analysis of the live webcast feed and taking swift corrective actions. He also directed the implementation of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) with strict adherence to ensure a smooth voting process.
To promote eco-friendliness, paper packets and plates for food and snacks will be provided at polling centres and EVM storage centres, while water from pitchers instead of plastic bottles will be made available for drinking at all polling stations.
The authorities have also taken measures to prevent influencing of elections. The state police, Excise, Income Tax officials, flying squads (FS) and static surveillance teams (SST) have been instructed to work more vigilantly to seize any illegal cash, liquor, narcotics or freebies on polling day.
Security arrangements have been strengthened in border areas with other states and neighbouring districts to prevent external interference in the conduct of elections.
