Presidential Backing: PM's Ambitious 'One Nation, One Election' Agenda Gets thumbs up from President Droupadi Murmu

In a strongly-worded address on the eve of India's 76th Republic Day, President Droupadi Murmu has firmly endorsed the government's ambitious "one nation, one election" agenda and lauded the replacement of colonial-era criminal codes with three new laws.

The President commended the government's vision in implementing this reform, saying it marked a significant step towards shedding India's colonial markers. This move, he stated, would promote consistency in governance, prevent policy paralysis, mitigate resource diversion and reduce financial burden, and provide numerous other benefits.

On the "one nation, one election" plan introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government, President Murmu said it promised to redefine good governance terms by synchronising election schedules across the country. She hailed this move as a significant step in promoting consistency in governance and protecting India's democratic fibre.

While addressing her speech on the occasion of Republic Day, Murmu further spoke about India's recognition of classical languages - including Assamese, Bengali, Marathi, Pali, and Prakrit - by the government, and its ongoing efforts to promote research in 11 classical languages.
