President Murmu Emphasises Era of Development and Independence'

HYDERABAD: President Droupadi Murmu on Friday stressed the importance of instilling a sense of “Nation First” among citizens to make India a developed nation.

Addressing a gathering at the inauguration of LokManthan-2024, a colloquium of “nationalist thinkers” in Hyderabad, the President outlined the country's struggle for independence and colonial mentality. The event also saw the unveiling of the new "Lady Justice" statue installed within the Supreme Court of India.

President Murmu described the statue's installation as another commendable step towards eradicating colonial mentality and promoting a strong sense of national pride.

The President mentioned that the ruling elite who disregarded India's rich intellectual traditions created a culture of cultural inferiority, ultimately undermining national unity. According to her, centuries of subjugation instilled in citizens an enduring mentality of slavery.

President Murmu emphasized that instilling the feeling of 'Nation First' is essential for fostering growth and development in the country. She provided instances such as replacement of old laws with new ones, renaming of public spaces like Rajpath in Delhi to Kartavyapath, and the renaming of Durbar Hall in Rashtrapati Bhavan to Ganatantra Mandap, to align with the roots of democracy.

These developments represent a significant step towards revitalizing India's essence and culture, a sentiment shared by the gathering of 'nationalist thinkers', present at this momentous occasion.
