PM's Health Vision Panning for India: Niramaya Bharat
New Delhi, November 14, 2024 - Union Health Secretary Smt Punya Salila Srivastava and Member (Health), NITI Aayog Dr V K Paul inaugurated the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s Health Pavilion at the 43rd India International Trade Fair (IITF) in Bharat Mandapam today.
The pavilion's focus on 'One Health' - a comprehensive approach emphasizing interconnectedness between human, animal, plant, and ecosystem health - resonates with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for Viksit Bharat and Niramaya Bharat. Dr Paul stated that the "last ten years have witnessed an inflection point" in enhancing the healthcare sector.
India has made considerable progress in disease elimination over the past decade. The Union Health Secretary declared that India will likely eliminate Measles, Rubella, Trachoma, Kala-Azar, TB, Leprosy, and Lymphatic Filariasis within the next five years, with Malaria expected to follow suit soon.
To achieve this, the Centre has strengthened infrastructure development across the country. The AB PM-JAY initiative was enhanced recently to cover senior citizens aged 70 years and above, while Ayushman Arogya Mandirs provide comprehensive primary healthcare.
"We achieved historic support in the last decade," said Dr Paul, urging everyone to visit the pavilion's experience stalls to understand progress in various health programs.
