PM Modi's Vision for 'One Nation, One Election' Takes Center Stage
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has emphasized the significance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a single nation-wide election process, dubbed "One Nation, One Election". The policy aims to hold elections every five years, followed by uninterrupted work periods of equal duration.
According to Rijiju, this system is crucial for India's progress and has been extensively discussed in the report prepared under former President Ram Nath Kovind. The minister revealed that the comprehensive report will be presented in Parliament soon.
Rijiju underscored the importance of unified voting across the country, citing it as a fundamental aspect of an unified nation. He argued that this single electoral process would help avoid duplication and ensure uniformity.
The upcoming Parliament session, set for November 25, is expected to introduce multiple bills, with significant discussions on "One Nation, One Election" planned for consideration.
This move comes amidst numerous expectations from the public and politicians alike, with hopes that it will simplify the election process and pave the way for uninterrupted progress of the nation's growth.
It remains to be seen whether India will adopt this system in its entirety, but with a firm commitment from key policymakers like Prime Minister Modi and Minister Rijiju, the prospect of implementing "One Nation, One Election" appears increasingly likely.
