PM Modi's Vision for 'One Nation, One Election' System Critical to India's Progress: Kiren Rijiju
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has stressed the importance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "One Nation, One Election" initiative, emphasizing that this system is essential for propelling India forward. Rijiju made these remarks while shedding light on a report prepared under the leadership of former President Ram Nath Kovind, which will soon be presented to Parliament.
According to Rijiju, PM Modi has advocated for holding elections every five years, followed by an uninterrupted period of about five years for work. He hinted that this report, which explores the "One Nation, One Election" vision, is slated for presentation to the Lower House in the upcoming November 25 session, when multiple bills are expected to be introduced.
Rijiju highlighted the significance of a unified voting system, particularly as it relates to the unity of an "one nation". He stated that India's singular electoral process must be uniformly applied across the country, emphasizing the need for this vision.
