PM Modi, Trump, Putin, and China Matter Most on Global Forum: DLF Chairman Emeritus KP Singh
In an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol, KP Singh, the Chairman Emeritus of DLF, India's largest real estate developer, has shared his vision for India's future and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi as one of the four top leaders that matter globally.
Singh, who recently turned 95, believes that India is rapidly progressing and poised to become the world's third-largest economy after the United States and China in the next few years. He attributes this growth to a combination of government policies and the talent and hard work of Indian entrepreneurs and workers.
PM Modi, according to Singh, has changed the world's perception towards India, placing him alongside other influential leaders such as Putin, Trump, and Chinese President Xi Jinping as the four top leaders that matter on the global forum. Singh asserts that India's leadership plays a key role in this, having transformed the country's image on a worldwide level.
Regarding the real estate sector, Singh expresses pride in DLF's transformation over the years, noting that most old builders have either gone bankrupt or are facing legal issues. He praises the emergence of a new breed of compliant developers who will drive the industry towards a significant future.
A major concern for Singh is India's poor urban infrastructure, which he believes contributes to rising pollution and toxic air in Delhi-NCR. He calls for "drastic measures" in master-planning as a course correction and advocates for long-term planning over short-sighted thinking.
Singh also emphasizes the importance of sustainable and green building practices, highlighting DLF's achievements in this area and praising government initiatives that incentivize green buildings.
For young entrepreneurs looking to make a mark in real estate, Singh advises them to prioritize compliance with laws, plan and pay taxes, test their work on the market, and remain true to ethics and moral values. He considers his biggest achievement to be winning over the confidence of farmers to purchase land, which enabled the development of India's first 1000-acre project.
