PM Modi Receives Memorable Welcome in Rio de Janeiro During G20 Summit Visit
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed gratitude for a warm welcome he received in Rio de Janeiro during his visit to the Brazilian city, where he is participating in the ongoing G20 Summit.
On Monday, PM Modi took to his X handle and shared a video of his arrival at the airport, where he was greeted by a large contingent of Indians who waved Indian flags, displayed his pictures, and sang welcoming songs. The Prime Minister also shared some pictures of his welcome by the Indian community in Rio de Janeiro on X.
The Prime Minister's visit to Brazil is part of his ongoing tour of Africa and the Americas, during which he has held discussions with leaders from Nigeria and other countries. He arrived in Brazil after concluding a two-day visit to Nigeria, where he discussed ways to strengthen partnerships in sectors such as defence, technology, health, and education.
During the G20 Summit on Monday, PM Modi is expected to put forward India's positions on various global issues, building on outcomes from previous summits hosted by India. The Prime Minister will also meet several world leaders on the sidelines of the summit.
After the G20 Summit, PM Modi will travel to Georgetown, which will be his first visit to Guyana as an Indian Premier since 1968. During his four-day visit, he will hold bilateral discussions, address the Parliament of Guyana, and participate in a gathering of the Indian diaspora.
The visit is significant as it marks India's long-standing friendship with Guyana, and PM Modi is expected to strengthen ties between the two countries during his time there.
