PM Modi Hailed as Global Leader After Receiving Nigerian National Award

Dehradun, Uttarakhand: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "popularity and strong leadership" after he received Nigeria's national award during his three-nation tour.
Writing a post on X, CM Dhami described it as a "proud moment" for India. The honour bestowed upon PM Modi is the Grand Commander of the Order of Niger (GCON), making him the second foreign dignitary to receive this prestigious award after Queen Elizabeth in 1969.
The achievement comes as a testament to PM Modi's popularity and effective international leadership, according to CM Dhami. Global relations have "received a new direction" due to the farsightedness of Modiji, he said.
This marks the 17th international award conferred on PM Modi by a foreign country. The Prime Minister concluded his first visit to Nigeria on Sunday, which is only the second visit by an Indian PM in 17 years.
During his arrival, PM Modi was warmly welcomed by Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Minister for Federal Capital Territory in Abuja, and was gifted with the "Key to the City" of Abuja. The key symbolises the trust and honour bestowed on the Prime Minister by the people of Nigeria.
PM Modi has now embarked on his next leg of the tour, which will take him to Brazil. This marks a significant milestone in India-Nigeria relations, highlighting PM Modi's efforts to strengthen global ties.
