PM Modi Commissions Three Made-In-India Frontline Naval Combatants In Major Defence Boost
Mumbai, (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday dedicated three frontline naval combatants to the nation at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai, marking a significant leap in defence manufacturing and maritime security.
The three naval ships commissioned include INS Surat, INS Nilgiri, and INS Vaghsheer. These highly advanced combatants are being hailed as major milestones for Indian Navy's capabilities.
INS Nilgiri, the first ship of the P17A Stealth Frigate Project, features various advanced features such as enhanced survivability, seakeeping, and stealth. According to PMO, these features will provide the Indian Navy with additional options in maintaining its security at sea.
The INS Surat is among the largest destroyers globally and boasts 75 percent indigenous content and cutting-edge technology. This destroyer has been equipped with a powerful array of weapon-sensor packages and advanced network-centric capabilities that mark it as one of the most sophisticated destroyers worldwide.
Furthermore, INS Vaghsheer marked the sixth submarine delivered as part of the P75 Scorpene Project. The collaboration between this project with Naval Group of France symbolizes India's remarkable progress in establishing its prowess for constructing high-tech submarines.
The commissioning ceremony took place against the backdrop of PM Modi's praise towards the achievements accomplished under his government, describing it as a momentous step forward for the country’s maritime heritage and development.
