PM Modi Addresses AI Disruption, Emphasizes Need for Skilling in France

New Delhi, Paris (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed one of the most pressing concerns surrounding Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Tuesday at the AI Action Summit in France. Addressing the issue of job displacement due to AI.
Modi acknowledged that the loss of jobs is AI's most feared disruption, but clarified that history has shown that work does not disappear due to technology; only its nature changes with evolving technology.
"We need to invest in skilling and re-skilling our people for an AI-driven future," Modi stated.
The Prime Minister also emphasized India's commitment to developing its Large Language Model (LLM) and building a unique public-private partnership model for pooling resources like computing power, making it available to startups and researchers at affordable cost.
"India is ready to share its experience and expertise to ensure that the AI future is for good and for all," Modi said.
Additionally, Modi stressed on the importance of harnessing data in India's national AI mission. "We have unlocked the power of data through our data empowerment and protection architecture, and we have made digital commerce democratic and accessible to all. This vision is the foundation of India's national AI mission."
Modi received a grand diaspora welcome as he landed in Paris, with the Indian community showing their affection despite the chilly weather.
In his departure statement, Modi stated that the bilateral segment of his visit will provide an opportunity to review the progress on the 2047 Horizon Roadmap for India-France strategic partnership along with "my friend" President Macron.
