PCB Demands Written Clarification from BCCI on Hybrid Model for Champions Trophy

Lahore, Pakistan - The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a firm stand, demanding written communication from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding any issues or suggestions concerning the upcoming Champions Trophy. PCB chief expressed his concerns in a statement made earlier this week.

"We have a clear stance that they must give it to us in writing if they [the Indian cricket board] have any issues. Till today, we have not spoken about any hybrid model, but we’re ready to speak on this. Now, if Indian media is reporting this, then there must be some letter the ICC will give us, or the Indian Board might have written this somewhere. Till now, no such letter has reached me or the PCB," the PCB chief stated.

The mention of a 'hybrid model' refers to a potential arrangement where matches could be played in neutral venues due to political tensions between India and Pakistan. Despite these discussions, the PCB has not received any official communication from either the BCCI or the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The PCB chief emphasized the desire to keep cricket free from political interference. "We want cricket to be devoid of politics. No sport in the world should have these kinds of politics. We will continue the preparations for the Champions Trophy that you’re currently seeing, and God willing, it will be a successful event," he added.

The Champions Trophy, scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan, is a significant event in the cricketing calendar, and the PCB is keen on ensuring its smooth execution without external disruptions. The board's call for transparency through written correspondence aims to clarify any misunderstandings and ensure that preparations continue unhindered.
