Pakistani ODI Series Victory Against Australia

Pakistan clinches first ODI series win in Australia since 2002

Perth, Australia - November 10, 2024: Pakistan's national cricket team celebrated a memorable 2-1 series victory over Australia, with skipper Mohammad Rizwan hailing the win as "a special moment" for the team.

In a thrilling match at the Perth Stadium, Pakistan achieved its first ODI series win in Australia since 2002 when it won the deciding third one-day international (ODI) by eight wickets. The home team was without their star players, including captain Pat Cummins, Steven Smith, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Marnus Labuschagne, which made the task even more challenging for Australia.

Pakistan's pacemen dominated the series since Australia won the opening match by two wickets in Melbourne. On Sunday, Haris Rauf took 5-29 to bow them out for 163, which was then followed by a blistering partnership between Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique that set up Pakistan's chase.

The duo put on an impressive 84-run opening partnership before both fell in the same over. Pakistani captain Mohammad Rizwan, joined by Babar Azam, steered the team to an important victory with a further partnership of 58 for the third wicket.

"I'm happy as captain because our nation will be happy," said Rizwan. "They don't always get what they expect from us as a team. Today we are happy as a team because our nation will be happy."

The match itself saw many twists and turns, including an incredible display of bowling by Shaheen Shah Afridi, who took 3-32.

Pakistan has now clinched its first ODI series win in Australia since 2002, while Australia is dealt with a blow due to the absence of several key players. The two teams will now face off in five test matches against India starting from November 22.
