Pakistan Unveil Young Guns for ODI Series Against Zimbabwe
Bulawayo, Zimbabwe - Pakistan Cricket Board (BCB) has handed debutants Haseebullah Khan, Aamir Jamal, and Faisal Akram their maiden international caps as the team prepares to face Zimbabwe in a three-match One Day International (ODI) series, commencing at the Queens Sports Club on Sunday.
The 15-member squad, captained by Mohammad Rizwan, will be missing several regulars including Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Naseem Shah, who have been rested for a low-stakes tour. The series is Pakistan's second ODI outing this month, preceding the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Former fast bowler Aqib Javed has been appointed as the interim white-ball head coach of the team until the tournament, while former player Tayyab Tahir will don two gloves - that of all-rounder and wicket-keeper. Pakistani National Selection Committee Member Aqib Javed took charge on Friday.
Pakistan's journey began with an extensive practice session this week in Zimbabwe, marking a departure from the regular tour schedule with players who played key roles against Australia (2-1). In place, Pakistan has chosen Abrar Ahmed and Ahmed Daniyal over Babbar Azam and Naseem Shah, whereas Shahnawaz Dahani took Yousaf Zaib's bowling action while, replacing wicketkeeper-batsman Ihsanullah Siddique & also fast bowler Yasir Shah.
