Opportunities to Address Climate Change

The following opportunities can be seized by governments to make significant progress in addressing climate change:

1. Ambition levels: Developing countries' growth needs while setting NDCs.
2. Energy mix: Incorporating Renewable Energy (RE) targets into NDCs, tripling RE, and ensuring a rapid shift towards this energy source.
3. Sectoral transition: Including plans for full power sector decarbonization to avoid carbon capture, nuclear, or fossil fuel-based energies by mid-century through explicitly phasing out fossil fuels.

With strong action taken now, significant progress can be made in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and helping governments meet the goals set forth at COP28.
