Only PM Modi, Trump, Putin and China Matter on the World Forum: DLF’s Chairman Emeritus, KP Singh

New Delhi, Dec 22, 2023 - India is rapidly progressing and poised to become the world's third largest economy in the next few years, says Kushal Pal Singh, Chairman Emeritus of the country's largest real estate developer, DLF. In an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol, Singh praises Prime Minister Narendra Modi and believes he is one of the four top leaders that matter at the world level, alongside US President Donald Trump, Russia's President Vladimir Putin, and China's President Xi Jinping.

Singh, who recently turned 95, attributes India's rapid progress to its leadership, which has changed the country's image on a global level. He mentions that the Indian PM has changed the perception of India being one of the top players in terms of economic development and growth. Singh believes that the current crop of leaders is doing better than previous governments.

Regarding the future of India's economy, Singh projects the country will surpass China to become the world's third largest economy within the next four years. This prediction has been made by international institutions like IMF and World Bank.

Singh also discusses sustainable buildings, infrastructure, and master planning requirements for urban areas, emphasizing that short-sighted approaches can create pollution and toxic air in cities like Delhi NCR.

"The reputation today being proud to be an Indian today is so different from what it was 10-15 years back," Singh emphasized. "Only four leaders matter on the world forum: Mr (Narendra) Modi, (Donald) Trump, Mr (Vladimir) Putin and China's President Xi Jinping."

Addressing real estate growth, Singh said that DLF has undergone a paradigm shift to focus on sustainability and green practices through various international certifications.

He recommended strict enforcement of urban master planning regulations. "If not done seriously the only thing I see is breathing poison due to severe pollution every day," he said. The future infrastructure must be designed keeping in consideration climate change that would require drastic measures, Singh said.

When discussing advice for entrepreneurs looking to make a mark in real estate, Singh cautioned on compliance with laws and regulations.

"My corner stone of business philosophy, which I followed, is the supreme value of ethics and moral values," he emphasized, adding that adhering by such principles is most important. With his 95 years of expertise, Singh feels proud with how DLF has navigated through complex real estate legislation and transformed India's urban landscape.

"I see a great future for our new breed of builders who will build an ultra-modern residential projects that drive the sector to be as good as any other industry without taking cut corners."
