Ola Electric's CTPO Quits Amid String of Top Exodus

New Delhi: In a move that could pose challenges for India's leading electric vehicle (EV) startup, Chief Technology and Product Officer (CTPO) Suvonil Chatterjee has tendered his resignation from Ola Electric, a company that was considered as one of the most influential figures in innovation at the helm.

Chatterjee, who had joined Ola Electric in 2017 after completing his studies from BITS Pilani, played an instrumental role in shaping the company's product ecosystem. He rose through the ranks and became Chief Product Officer in 2021 before taking over as CTPO last year.

As the chief technology officer of Ola Electric, Chatterjee was at the forefront of developing key products such as Ola Krutrim and Ola Maps, which are touted to be market disruptors for giants like Microsoft and Google. The company's co-founder and former Chief Technology Officer Ankit Bhati resigned in 2019, while the company secretary and compliance officer Pramendra Tomar departed earlier this year.

Despite losing key talent, Ola Electric has continued to push its electric vehicle initiatives forward, including the awaited Ola S1 electric scooter, which has generated significant interest among consumers. However, this string of departures raises questions about the stability and continuity at India's leading EV company.

The reasons for Chatterjee's resignation are not yet clear. When contacted by Alarian.com, Ola Electric did not provide any information on his replacement or succession plans.
