Odisha to Get ₹5000 Crore Science City and Biotech Park

Bhubaneswar, Odisha: The Government of Odisha will set up a ₹5000 crores Science City and a mega biotechnology park worth billions in Bhubaneswar to promote science and technology in the state. This was announced by Science & Technology Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Sunday.
The State government has allocated 100 acres of land in Bhubaneswan for the Science City project, which will be similar to existing facilities like those in Kolkata and Hyderabad. According to Minister Patra, this initiative aims to boost Odisha's scientific infrastructure, promote innovation, and cultivate future researchers and technology leaders.
The proposed Science City will serve as a hub for showcasing scientific inventions and innovations for both students and the general public. Additionally, 100 acres of land will be dedicated to set up the mega biotechnology park in Bhubaneswar. Major players in the sector will be invited to establish their units here, along with comprehensive research and development facilities.
These initiatives are part of India's 'Bikashita Odisha 2036' vision, which aims to transform Odisha into a hub for scientific advancement and research.
Odisha is currently one of few states in India with such facility. Minister Patra stated that the state government has initiated several initiatives to promote science and technology through this project.
More ambitious plans are underway with the proposal to set up a district science centre-cum-planetarium in Puri, with a site identified by the district administration.
