Odisha Set to Establish Science City in Bhubaneswar to Boost Scientific Research and Innovation

Bhubaneswar, Odisha: In a significant move to promote scientific research and innovation, the Odisha government plans to establish a Science City in Bhubaneswar. The announcement was made by Science and Technology Minister Krushna Chandra Patra during the National Technology Day celebrations held on Sunday.

The Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, has given his approval for the proposal to allocate 100 acres of land for the establishment of the Science City. Only a few states in India have been designated as "Science Cities", with Patra having recently visited similar facilities in Kolkata and Hyderabad.

According to Patra, the Bhubaneswar Science City will be equipped with interactive exhibits showcasing various scientific inventions and innovations, catering not just to students but also to the general public. Additionally, the facility will feature displays of cutting-edge research and technology.

Meanwhile, the Odisha government is set to launch a mega biotechnology park in Bhubaneswar. Patra informed that major players in the biotechnology sector have been invited to set up their units within the proposed park, which will boast adequate R&D facilities to support the growth of local industries.

Furthermore, the government plans to establish planetariums and science centres across all 30 districts of Odisha. This initiative aims to make scientific knowledge and innovation accessible to a wider audience and foster a culture of scientific curiosity in people across the state.
