Odisha Chief Minister to Tackle Singapore as New Investment Destination

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi kicked off his four-day visit to Singapore on Sunday, emphasizing the eastern state's strong industrial ecosystem and opportunities for growth in various sectors including IT, electronics, steel, and urban management.

During high-level meetings with industry leaders and officials from government agencies, Majhi stressed that Odisha is prepared to take decisive steps to build a thriving technology sector. He invited Dr. Edward Morton, founder of CT Metrix, to visit the state, highlighting the government's proactive approach to developing a robust electronics ecosystem.

Majhi also met Vivek Agarwal, Director of Visa Group Limited, to discuss expansion opportunities in Odisha's steel and ferrochrome industries. Emphasizing the state's focus on value-added manufacturing and job creation, Majhi positioned Odisha as a leader in India's industrial sector.

"This is my first foreign trip as Chief Minister, and Singapore was chosen for the Odisha Business Meet due to its world-class industrial ecosystem and innovative practices," Majhi said. "Singapore's expertise in infrastructure, logistics, and urban management aligns perfectly with Odisha's rapid urbanization efforts."

Majhi stated that his government is keen on driving investments in sectors like handloom, seafood, and skill development, promising comprehensive support to investors. Over the next three days, he will engage with potential partners to foster collaboration and growth.

The delegation's visit underscores Odisha's push to become a global investment hub, leveraging its investor-friendly policies, abundant natural resources, and skilled workforce to attract investments aligned with its goals for sustainable and inclusive economic development.
