NSE Chief Optimistic About India's Growth Amid FPI Sell-Off

Mumbai, India - Sriram Krishnan, Chief Business Officer of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), has expressed confidence in the resilience of India's economic growth despite a recent wave of selling by Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs). Addressing concerns over the market volatility, Krishnan clarified that the current sell-off does not reflect underlying issues with India's economic fundamentals.

"The long-term outlook for India remains robust," Krishnan stated in an exclusive interview with ANI. He highlighted that despite the global uncertainties, particularly around the US elections, India continues to be a compelling destination for investors. "India seems to be a very strong, attractive investment destination; it continues to be, so we don't see any fundamental challenges," he added.

Krishnan also touched upon the much-anticipated IPO of NSE, stating that the exchange is ready to proceed as soon as they receive regulatory approval. "As and when we get the regulatory approval, we will do the IPO," he noted, without specifying a timeline.

In response to the increasing interest from younger investors, the NSE has ramped up its educational initiatives. "We conduct about 20,000 investor awareness programs annually," Krishnan said, underscoring the importance of equipping new investors with the necessary knowledge to engage confidently with the markets. The NSE has introduced a new app and offers a variety of learning resources on its website to cater to this demographic.

Krishnan emphasized the NSE's commitment to investor education, stating, "So anybody who is desirous of learning more can participate in these events programs which are being held from time to time or depend on the resources that we have on our website."

This proactive approach aims to ensure that as India's market grows, so does the sophistication and engagement of its investor base, reinforcing the NSE's role in fostering a knowledgeable and active investment community.
