NO RELIEF IN SIGHT AS PASSENGERS TRUDGE THROUGH DENSE SMOG IN DELHI

New Delhi, November 18, 2024 - The national capital struggled to cope with the worsening air quality and dense smog today, as passengers braved the hazardous conditions at New Delhi Railway Station.

The deteriorating air quality led to the implementation of Stage IV of the revised Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), which has come into effect immediately in Delhi-NCR. The move is aimed at mitigating the severe impact of the pollution on the city's residents and visitors alike.

Under the directives of GRAP, the entry of all truck traffic into Delhi has been restricted, except for those carrying essential commodities or providing essential services. Additionally, a complete ban on construction and demolition activities has been enforced in order to reduce air pollutants.

Rush-hour commutes were particularly challenging today, as commuters struggled through the dense smog that wrapped around the city like a shroud. Railway officials reported increased crowds at stations despite the deteriorating conditions, adding to the already chaotic scene.
