New Delhi Hosts 73rd All India Police Athletic Cluster Championship
New Delhi, January 1, 2024 - The 73rd All India Police Athletic Cluster Championship kicked off at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday, drawing over 1,100 police personnel from across the nation. The event, inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, saw participants from 25 states, four union territories, and 10 Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) compete in a variety of athletic and cycling events.
LG Saxena, in his opening remarks, highlighted the significance of sports in enhancing the physical and mental well-being of police personnel. "Sports are not just about competition; they are about building character, teamwork, and discipline which are crucial in law enforcement," he noted.
The championship featured 45 athletic events and seven cycling events, showcasing the diverse talents within the police forces. Uttar Pradesh Police's athletes shone brightly, with Prince Kumar and Ujala securing gold medals in the 10km run for men and women, respectively.
An official from the organizing committee commented on the broader implications of the event, stating, "This championship not only highlights the athletic capabilities of our police forces but also fosters a spirit of camaraderie and unity among them. It's an embodiment of the discipline and teamwork that are fundamental to our profession."
