New Delhi, January 7, 2024 - Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium buzzed with energy as 1,123 police personnel from 25 states, four union territories, and 10 Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) converged for the 73rd All India Police Athletic Cluster Championship on Sunday. The championship, which kicked off with an inauguration by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, highlighted the crucial role of sports in the lives of law enforcement officers.
LG Saxena, while commending the initiative, emphasized how sports foster discipline, teamwork, and physical fitness among police personnel, essential traits for their demanding roles. "Sports are not just about competition but about building character," Saxena remarked during the opening ceremony.
The event featured a wide array of competitions, including 45 athletic events and seven cycling events, drawing athletes from across the nation. Highlights included the 10km run where Uttar Pradesh Police's Prince Kumar and Ujala clinched the gold medals in the men's and women's categories respectively.
"This championship is more than just a competition; it's a celebration of the spirit of our police force," stated an official from the organizing committee. The event, orchestrated by Delhi Police under the guidance of the All India Police Sports Control Board, not only showcased athletic talent but also reinforced the bonds of camaraderie and discipline among the participants.
