New Delhi Hosts 73rd All India Police Athletic Championship
New Delhi, March 12, 2023 - Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi was abuzz with activity as 1,123 police personnel from 25 states, four union territories, and 10 Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) gathered for the 73rd All India Police Athletic Cluster Championship on Sunday. The event was inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, who highlighted the significance of sports in enhancing the fitness and morale of police personnel.
The championship featured a wide array of athletic competitions, including 45 athletic events and seven cycling events, drawing athletes from every corner of the nation. LG Saxena, in his opening remarks, praised the initiative for fostering physical fitness and camaraderie among the participants.
In the spotlight events, Uttar Pradesh Police's Prince Kumar and Ujala clinched gold medals in the 10km run for men and women respectively, showcasing their endurance and athletic prowess.
An official from the event commented, "The championship not only showcased athletic talent but also highlighted the discipline and teamwork which are crucial for police personnel."
The championships were organized by the Delhi Police under the guidance of the All India Police Sports Control Board, providing a platform for officers to compete and bond, enhancing their physical capabilities and competitive spirit.
