New Delhi, October 15 - Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium became the hub of athletic fervor on Sunday as it hosted the 73rd All India Police Athletic Cluster Championship. Over 1,123 participants from 25 states, four union territories, and ten Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) gathered to showcase their skills in a variety of sports.
The championship was officially inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, who lauded the event for promoting sports among police personnel, emphasizing its role in enhancing physical fitness and mental agility crucial for law enforcement duties.
Among the highlights of the day, Uttar Pradesh Police's Prince Kumar and Ujala clinched gold medals in the men's and women's 10km run, respectively, demonstrating exceptional athletic prowess.
"The event not only highlights the physical capabilities of our police forces but also fosters a spirit of camaraderie and discipline, which are fundamental to the ethos of our services," stated an official from the organizing committee.
The championship, organized by Delhi Police under the banner of the All India Police Sports Control Board, included 45 athletic events and seven cycling events, providing a platform for both competitive spirit and professional bonding among the participants.
This annual event not only serves as a competitive arena but also as a testament to the dedication and discipline of India's police forces, showcasing their ability to excel in diverse fields beyond their regular duties.
