Navjot Singh Sidhu's Wife Overcomes Stage IV Cancer at 3% Survival Rate: What Was Her Secret?
In a surprising turn of events, former Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu recently shared his wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu's inspiring recovery story from Stage IV cancer. Despite being given just a 3% chance of survival, she managed to overcome the disease thanks to her discipline, strict diet, and lifestyle changes.
According to Sidhu, his wife underwent most of her treatment at government hospitals in Patiala with a total cost of only a few lakhs. She fought bravely without losing hope, despite being diagnosed with cancer during her son's wedding. Her dedication and strong mental resilience were instrumental in her recovery.
Sidhu revealed that along with her medical treatment, his wife followed an unconventional diet rich in anti-inflammatory and antioxidant foods, including lemon water, raw turmeric, apple cider vinegar, neem leaves, and tulsi. She also consumed sour fruits such as pomegranate, amla, and pumpkin juices. Her daily meal was restricted to coconut oil, cold-pressed oils, or almond oil.
However, experts are divided on the effectiveness of these dietary changes in cancer recovery. Dr Prashant Mehta, medical oncologist at Amrita Hospital, dismissed the claims as "misinformation that is based on no evidence," emphasizing the importance of science-backed recommendations over unverified social media posts.
Dr Srinath and Ashlesha Joshi, however, highlighted potential benefits of some foods in cancer recovery. Turmeric contains curcumin, a bioactive compound with potent anti-inflammatory properties, which may help reduce oxidative stress and inhibit cancer cell growth. Neem has immunomodulatory effects that may aid in reducing inflammation and oxidative stress associated with cancer progression.
Dr Srinath also noted the potential health benefits of other ingredients like sour fruits and juices, pomegranate, amla, pumpkin, coconut oil, cold-pressed oils, and almond oil. However, it's essential to consult trusted healthcare experts before making any significant dietary or lifestyle changes.
Experts caution against following celebrities' diet plans without concrete scientific evidence, urging individuals to rely on medical professionals for guidance. "Science is difficult and not as easy to absorb as this," Dr Mehta said. "Medical advice from doctors might seem less exciting or engaging, but it's rooted in evidence-based science."
Therefore, while Navjot Kaur Sidhu's inspiring recovery story raises questions about the effectiveness of certain diet changes in cancer recovery, experts stress the importance of consulting trusted healthcare professionals before adopting any unproven methods.
