National Sports Awards 2024: Full List Of Khel Ratna, Arjuna Award, Dronacharya Award Winners And More

New Delhi, Jan 2 (PTI): The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has announced the names of winners for India's highest sporting honours for the year 2024.

Among those who have been named as winners include Paralympic medalist Praveen Kumar of para-athletics, which is a field that caters to athletes born after January 1960, except for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Also among this list are D Gukesh, one of the young chess prodigies from India who became world number one recently, and shooting sensation Manu Bhaker, who won two medals at the last Olympics.

The awards were given out to the winners of the sports disciplines in recognition of their achievements during a specified duration. Apart from these, there are a total of 34 awards for outstanding performance by athletes, coaches and sports organizations across different fields.

Awards for Athletes

Manu Bhaker will receive the Khel Ratna Award (India’s highest sporting honours) for her show in the Olympics. D Gukesh received an award for his outstanding achievements as a chess player. Harmanpreet Singh won the prestigious award too. Praveen Kumar, the youngest Indian high jumper to win gold and silver Paralympic medals so far will also receive Khel Ratna Award this year.
