National Institute Of Food Technology To Be Set Up In Bihar: Key Highlights From Education Budget 2025
The Union Budget 2025 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced several key initiatives in the education sector. One of the significant announcements is the establishment of a National Institute Of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management in Bihar.
According to the budget speech, the Centre plans to set up the National Institute Of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management to provide a strong fillip to food processing activities in the eastern region. This initiative aims to enhance income for farmers through value addition to their produce and create employment opportunities for youth.
The government also plans to add 10,000 additional seats in medical colleges and hospitals in the next year, as part of its goal to increase medical education seats by 75,000 over the next five years. The number of existing medical education seats has increased from 65,000 to 1.35 lakh over the past decade.
Furthermore, an additional infrastructure will be created in five IITs started after 2014 to facilitate education for a total of 6,500 more students. The total number of students in IITs has seen a significant increase, reaching 100% of the initial number over the past decade.
The budget also includes provisions for PM Research Fellowships, which will provide enhanced financial support to encourage advanced research and innovation in top institutions. Additionally, Atal Tinkering Labs will be established over the next five years to foster scientific temper in young minds.
A key highlight of the previous Union Budget under Sitharaman's tenure was the launch of a comprehensive Prime Minister’s package that included several important programmes for youth development, including internship opportunities and CSR engagement.
The government plans to establish 50,000 Atal Tinkering Labs over the next five years. The budget speech also announced provisions for enhanced infrastructure in schools, which will provide improved educational facilities for students.
