National Government Ratchets Up Efforts to Empower Girl Children
New Delhi, January 24 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday reiterates his government's commitment to empower girl children across various sectors of education, technology, skills, and healthcare.
In a post on X marking National Girl Child Day, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that the accomplishments achieved by girl children serve as inspiration for the nation. The celebration of National Girl Child Day every January 24 highlights the rights, education, and welfare of girls in India.
This year's event, the ninth consecutive one organized by the government, aims at changing societal attitudes toward the empowerment of women, addressing issues such as female foeticide, and fostering a more inclusive environment to ensure equal opportunities for girl children.
According to the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development which initiated this day in 2008, National Girl Child Day seeks to raise awareness about empowering girls, promoting education for them, and encouraging society to value and respect girls on an equal basis.
National Girl Child Day also looks onto raising awareness about declining sex ratio and fostering a more inclusive environment for girl children. This day serves as a vital reminder of the importance of empowering girls and building a progressive society.
Initiated way back in 2008 by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development it aims to raise awareness across all sections and highlight inequalities faced by girls.
