NATION RECOGNIZES Mौलana Azad's Vision on National Education Day

New Delhi, Nov 11 (PTI): As India celebrates National Education Day today to mark the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the nation is paying tribute to his pioneering work in shaping India’s educational landscape and fostering accessible, inclusive learning for all citizens.

Azad, who served as India's first Education Minister from 1947 to 1958, prioritized primary, secondary, and higher education during his tenure. His leadership laid the groundwork for several cultural and educational institutions that continue to be pillars of learning today.

In recognition of his contributions, the Ministry of Human Resource Development declared November 11 as National Education Day in 2008. This year's celebrations coincide with Azad's 133rd birth anniversary.

Azad founded several key institutions, including the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), which have played a pivotal role in shaping India's technical education system. He also initiated initiatives such as vocational training, education for girls, and universal primary education, emphasizing the transformative power of education in nation-building.

"To mark Azad's vision on National Education Day, we will be organizing various events and activities that aim to raise awareness about the importance of education," said an official from the Ministry of Education. "We will also be distributing textbooks and educational materials among underprivileged children to emphasize the significance of education for all."

The day serves as a reminder of Azad's relentless efforts in shaping India's educational landscape. As a leader, he advocated for a robust system that prioritized quality and accessibility, fostering an inclusive environment for learning. His work continues to inspire new generations of educators, policymakers, and learners across the nation.
