Nashik Sees Further Decline in Dengue Cases, 12 New Infections Reported in First Week of December

Nashik, Maharashtra: The city of Nashik reported a significant drop in dengue cases in the first week of December, with only 12 new infections confirmed. According to health officials of the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC), this is a notable decrease from the 70 cases recorded in November and 107 cases seen in October.

The NMC has attributed the decline in dengue cases to rigorous preventive measures put in place by the civic body, including regular fogging and spraying operations aimed at controlling mosquito populations. The health teams are also actively conducting surveys to identify and destroy potential mosquito breeding spots throughout the city.

In a statement, an official from the NMC noted that while the recent decline in dengue cases is encouraging, it is essential for residents to continue taking preventive measures to prevent further outbreaks. "We urge all residents to keep their water containers dry once a week and ensure that water is not accumulated in flower pots or refrigerators in their homes," they said.

The city's battle against dengue has been ongoing since January 1, with the NMC reporting 104 dengue-positive cases between January 1 and May 31 this year. However, following an increase in cases in June – where a staggering 165 cases were reported that month alone – followed by steady rises in July (435 infections) and August (198 cases), the city saw a noticeable decline in new infections.
