NASA Astronaut Sunita Williams Reassures Public About Health During Extended Space Mission

HOUSTON, TX - In a recent exclusive interview with NBC News, NASA astronaut Sunita Williams has provided reassuring updates about her health and fitness during her extended space mission.

Speaking candidly about the physical demands of living in space, Williams revealed that she and fellow astronaut Butch Workman are staying active through rigorous workout routines. "Part of being in space is working out," Williams explained. "We work out two hours a day, some people call it 'space buff'."

Williams addressed concerns raised by social media users about her weight loss during the interview, assuring they were simply due to changes in body composition as a result of living in microgravity for an extended period.

"We're feeling good," Williams replied. "We work out, eat right - it's just awesome. We have a lot of fun up here, too, and there's nothing to worry about."

In a heartfelt message sent ahead of Thanksgiving, the crew at the International Space Station (ISS) – including Williams – extended their gratitude to friends and family who are supporting them from Earth.

"Our Crew up here just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends and family who are down on Earth and everyone who is supporting us," said Williams in a recent video message.

Scheduled to return to Earth in February 2025, nearly eight months after her Starliner spaceflight was launched in June this year, the dedicated team has expressed their appreciation for the critical support provided by NASA and its partners.
