Nana Patekar Reveals Candid Thoughts on Ranbir Kapoor's Animal, Calls Anil Kapoor's Performance Relaxed
Mumbai, November 21 - Renowned actor Nana Patekar is known for his unfiltered opinions and candour, which was put to the test during a recent press conference where he shared his thoughts on Ranbir Kapoor's blockbuster film Animal. Patekar sat down with Anil Kapoor, whom he praised for delivering a "relaxed" performance in the highly discussed movie.
Patekar admitted that he was initially reluctant to watch Animal but eventually agreed after being motivated by Anil's performances. He lauded Anil as the only person who delivered a restrained performance in the film, saying, "I saw Animal and I called you and said, 'I watched Anil-mal.' You are the only person who delivered a restrained performance in the film. Everybody else's acting was heightened."
In earlier statements, Anil Kapoor had revealed that he drew from personal experiences to portray his character in the film, while Ranbir Kapoor also tapped into his real-life experiences to bring authenticity to his role. The director, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, received praise for his casting choices, particularly his decision to cast Anil and Ranbir as father and son in the movie.
Animal, which marked Ranbir's lead role, sparked controversy among some audiences due to its portrayal of toxic masculinity and violent behavior. Despite the criticism, the film was a huge commercial success and cemented Anil Kapoor's position as a talented actor in Bollywood.
Patekar and Kapoor are set to collaborate on Nana's upcoming film Vanvaas, further solidifying their on-screen and off-screen friendships.
