Nagaland's Health Minister Embarks on Inspection Tour for Bettering Services and Amenities
DIMAPUR, November 19 - Nagaland's Minister of Health & Family Welfare, P Paiwang Konyak, began an inspection tour to assess the medical infrastructure and amenities in the state. The tour is aimed at identifying areas that require improvement and upgrading.
Konyak stated that he will focus on addressing issues such as the shortage of medical personnel, particularly doctors, and ensuring adequate equipment for the hospitals. He also emphasized the importance of effective utilization of hospital funds and ensured compliance with Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) regulations.
During his visit to Dimapur District Hospital (DH), the Minister announced several infrastructure development projects, including the construction of a patient lodge, canteen for patients, staff quarters, and improving existing facilities such as the operation theatre, OPD, CT scan facility, and in-house radiology services.
The DH was declared fully operational by its Medical Superintendent, Dr. Keveduyi Theyo, who assured that all basic departments were functioning as usual, including a dialysis unit with an intake capacity of 30 patients per session.
Konyak also touched on the issue of foreign food and drug safety in Nagaland, citing concerns over the influx of unlabelled, expired items and their impact on local entrepreneurs. The Health and Family Welfare department is conducting assessments to identify such issues and ensure compliance with regulations.
This inspection tour is the first phase of the assessment, and subsequent phases will cover other districts in the state, further highlighting the government's commitment to improving healthcare services and amenities in Nagaland.
