MUSHROOMING DEMAND AND HIGH SAFETY RATING MARK THE LAUNCH OF MARUTI SUZUKI DZIRE'S FOURTH GENERATION

Date: November 11, 2024

In a move that is expected to stir up the subcompact sedan market in India, Maruti Suzuki will launch its highly-anticipated fourth generation of its best-selling subcompact sedan, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, on Sunday. The new Dzire would mark a significant design and safety milestone for the popular model.

The Dzire has been a benchmark in terms of fuel efficiency and market presence for many years, earning top preferences among Indian car buyers. Its latest generation boasts impressive mileage figures, offering an average return of 24.79 kmpl for its petrol manual version and 25.71 kmpl for its AMT version. For the variants with CNG powertrain the return is a remarkable 33.73 kmpkg.

This year's model not only scores high in fuel efficiency but also boasts impressive safety scores under Global NCAP testing, scoring five stars for adult occupant protection and four for child occupants. This milestone marks the first occasion for any Maruti Suzuki model to achieve this coveted feat at the esteemed test facility.

In terms of design, the latest Dzire model has a sleeker appearance than its predecessor, marking a significant departure from the look of the outgoing Maruti Swift hatchback. Its revamped proportions, along with enhanced premium styling lend it a more substantial road presence compared to its previous design iteration, drawing comparisons to rival models such as the Honda Amaze.

Another key element in interior design concerns maintaining a balance between familiarity and sophistication, incorporating some elements sourced from the latest Swift model. Furthermore, the Dzire's dimensions - with measures of 3995mm length, 1735mm width, and 1525mm height - aligns effectively to India’s sub-4m compact car classification.

The new-gen model features better mileage in petrol manual version, while offering 33.73 kmpkg for its CNG model variants in terms of fuel efficiency. However the Dzire's dimensions remain within the same limits that categorize it as a subcompact car: measuring only at 3,995mm in length, and with an effective ground clearance of 163 mm.

In addition to improved mileage, buyers are also offered more cargo space - with petrol variants holding 382 litres, which would decrease if the CNG version carries an additional fuel tank. Maruti Suzuki remains mum on this regard until now, but this may be a result of safety features that require added bulk as well as weight distribution.

Key Specifications for 4th Generation Dzire

  • Dimensions: Length - 3995mm, Width - 1735mm, Height - 1525mm
  • Wheelbase - 2450mm
  • Ground Clearance - 163 mm
  • Cargo space: Petrol variants hold 382 litres of cargo area

To bring the new fourth-generation to Indian roads today is an exciting moment as many would be eagerly waiting for its release.
