Mumbai's Weather Remains Slightly Cloudy Amid Moderate Air Pollution

Mumbai, India - On Thursday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that Mumbai experienced a cloudy sky, with temperatures moderate for the season. According to the Santacruz observatory in suburban Mumbai, the maximum temperature recorded was 30.4 degrees Celsius.

The city's residents were also greeted by relatively cool air, as the minimum temperature touched 18.5 degrees Celsius.

The Central Pollution Control Board's SAMEER app revealed that Mumbai's air quality remained in the 'moderate' category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 137 at 9:05 am on January 16.

However, not all areas across the city were equally affected by air pollution. Bandra Kurla Complex reported a moderate AQI of 123, while other areas such as Colaba, Ghatkopar, and Kurla all showed 'moderate' air quality withAQIs ranging from 101 to 150. Borivli, on the other hand, registered an AQI of 174.

Data from SAMEER app also revealed that Navi Mumbai experienced moderate air quality with an AQI of 145, whereas Thane struggled with a poor AQI of 210, indicating a higher level of pollution in the city's surrounding suburbs.

Overall, while the weather in Mumbai was slightly cloudy and cool by relative standards, air pollution remained a pressing concern for residents, particularly those living in urban areas.
